Cherrapunji Gin is a blend of 12 native botanicals from Northeast India, designed as a sipping gin with a universal appeal...

Digital Desk: The Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin from Meghalaya has clinched the highest honor at the prestigious Global Spirits Masters Competition, triumphing over 110 brands from 55 countries. This exceptional gin, made using rainwater, was showcased at the London Wine Fair on May 21, 2024, introducing the rich flavors of Northeast India to the global spirits industry.

A product of collaboration between the company’s master distiller and a Dutch partner, Cherrapunji Gin is a blend of 12 native botanicals from Northeast India, designed as a sipping gin with a universal appeal. Key ingredients include Kaji Nemu from Assam, Khasi Mandarin from Meghalaya, smoked tea from Manipur, cardamom from Sikkim, and juniper berries from the Eastern Himalayas. This unique mix captures the diverse flavors of the region, offering a distinctive sipping experience.

Currently available in Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, the gin is set to expand its presence across Northeast India and beyond. After a successful introduction in the Assam market, Cherrapunji Gin will soon be available in Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and selected international markets.

The bottle itself is a tribute to the vibrant culture of Cherrapunji and Mawsynram, featuring illustrations of a Mandarin picker, a colonial-era Bedford bus, a red panda, bamboo forests, and monoliths. These elements encapsulate the essence of this tranquil, rainy region, further enhancing the gin's unique charm.

The Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin not only captures the diverse botanical richness of Northeast India but also brings its cultural heritage to the global stage, earning its place among the world’s finest spirits.
