Kabul: Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid announced China to be its “most important partner’ on Friday.

Additionally, Mujahid said from the funds of China; we will revive Afghanistan’s economy.

“China is our most important partner and represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity for us, as it is ready to invest and rebuild our country,” said Mujahid to La Repubblica.


Moreover, Mujahid stated that it supports China’s One Belt, One Road initiative to link China with Africa, Asia, and Europe through an enormous network of roads, ports, railways, and industrial parks.


Stressing about the freedom of Afghan women, Mujahid asserted that women would be allowed to study in Universities; they will be allowed to work as nurses, in the police, or as assistants in Ministries.


On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, “Facts show that in realizing economic development we need an open, inclusive political structure, implementation of moderate foreign and domestic policies and clean break from terrorist groups in all forms.”


Further, Mujahid asserted that the Taliban view Russia as one of the important partners and maintain good relations.


UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the current $1.3bn UN humanitarian appeal for Afghanistan is only 39 percent funded.
