Digital Desk: Manipur's current chief minister, N Biren Singh of the BJP, defeated Congress candidate P Sharatchandra by roughly 18,000 votes from the Heingang seat. According to the most recent statistics from the Election Commission's website, the ruling BJP, which ran alone in the northeastern state, leads in 21 seats, while the Congress leads in three. The National People's Party has seven seats, while the Naga Peoples Front has four. Trends are currently available for 41 of 60 seats. The counting of ballots for 60 assembly seats in Manipur began at 8 a.m. on Thursday, according to authorities, amid tight security and strict adherence to Covid-19 rules. The state election was held in two stages on February 28 and March 5.
