At least four suspected assistants of absconding Sikh extremist preacher Amritpal Singh were brought to Dibrugarh earlier today amid strict security.
Digital Desk: After allegations that four alleged aides of Khalistani leader and Waris de Punjab chief Amritpal Singh had been brought to Dibrugarh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma referred to the move as "police-to-police cooperation" on Sunday.
"Previously, we have moved detainees from Assam to Bihar, and this is police-to-police cooperation. I don't have anything to say about it. The convicts are also brought here for security reasons", he said.

The four accused were received at Mohanbari Airport by Dibrugarh's Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. They were imprisoned at the Dibrugarh Central Jail.
Superintendent of Police Tejbir Singh Hundal, an SP-rank official of the Punjab Police, led the team that transported the four arrested to Assam.
"Four detained associates of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh were recently airlifted to Dibrugarh by a Special Air Force aircraft," a top police source claimed. They will most likely be detained at the Dibrugarh Central Prison. They are escorted by a 27-member Punjab Police team, including the IG Prison, according to the source.
However, the police have not proven any link between the four accused and the Amritpal Singh case, and their journey to Assam remains unknown. As of now, the cops are refusing to provide any information.
The news comes as the Punjab Police have initiated a big crackdown on 'Waris De Punjab' chief Amritpal Singh and are attempting to apprehend him.
The Punjab Police have apprehended 78 members of the group, while several others have been detained for questioning.
"Six to seven gunmen of Amritpal Singh have been apprehended," stated Jalandhar Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal.
Earlier in the day, the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in Punjab territory was extended till March 20.
