Prominent political leaders are joining the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha general elections. 

Digital Desk: In a major political move on Monday, several opposition party officials from Assam swore allegiance to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Prominent political leaders are joining the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha general elections. In addition to the leaders, a number of Trinamool Congress ward commissioners are expected to become party members.

Information obtained indicates that Kuldip Barua, a Congress leader from Sipajhar in the Darrang district of Assam, joined the BJP today. Furthermore, Kamal Kumar Medhi, a former leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), decided to join the BJP.

Assam Youth Congress President Angkita Dutta, former Congress Member of Legislative from Khumtai constituency Bismita Gogoi, former president of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Dipanka Kumar Nath, former vice-president of the AASU Prakash Das, and several others joined the party a few days ago.

Prior to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is gaining momentum in Assam as a result of the participation of powerful figures from a variety of political backgrounds. The surge of well-known people highlights a significant change in the state's political landscape.
