Digital Desk: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is set to visit Manipur on July 8 to meet with violence-affected communities across various districts. This marks Gandhi's third visit to the strife-torn state and his first in his current role as Leader of the Opposition.

According to Manipur Congress president K. Meghachandra, Gandhi's journey will begin with a flight from Delhi to Silchar, from where he will proceed to Jiribam district. In Jiribam, Gandhi plans to visit several relief camps before returning to Silchar airport to catch a flight to Imphal. Upon arriving in Imphal, he will continue to Churachandpur district to engage with people residing in relief camps.

From Churachandpur, Gandhi will travel by road to Moirang in Bishnupur district to visit additional relief camps. His visit will culminate with a meeting with State Governor Anusuiya Uikey in Imphal before he departs the state.

This visit is significant as it is Gandhi's first trip to Manipur since the Lok Sabha elections, where the Congress secured victories in both constituencies in the state. Congress legislature party leader O. Ibobi Singh noted that Gandhi has previously visited Manipur twice since the violence outbreak on May 3 last year to understand the people’s pain and sorrow.
