Digital Desk: Exciting news for train travelers in Assam and the Northeast!
The construction of the second railway bridge at Saraighat, spanning the Brahmaputra River, is set to begin soon.
This two-storey bridge will feature two railway tracks alongside three connected road lanes, enhancing connectivity in the region.
The railway department has already completed the bidding process, paving the way for construction to commence this September.
The project, estimated at Rs 1,477 crore, is part of a dual-track initiative linking Agiathuri and Kamakhya.
Spanning 1.3 kilometers and supported by 12 poles, the bridge is expected to be completed by December 2029.
Once operational, the second bridge will significantly strengthen Assam's railway infrastructure, paving the way for new train services.
Chief Public Relations Officer of the Railway Department, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, expressed optimism about the boost this development will bring to the state’s transportation system.
