Digital Desk: The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway's Railway Protection Force (RPF) is continuing its campaign against the transshipment of illegal products via railways. RPF of NF Railway conducted drives against carrying illegal products at the Agartala, Dharmanagar, New Bongaigaon, Katihar, and New Tinsukia railway stations and trains from November 26 to November 30, and collected contraband goods worth Rs 41.9 lakh. During the drives, the RPF recovered 110 packets of ganja weighing about 224 kg and valued at around Rs 21.9 lakh, as well as 24 soap packs of brown sugar weighing approximately 312.67 grams and valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh. Six people were caught in this case. According to a news release, the captured individuals and seized materials were afterward handed over to the corresponding OC/GRP or local police station for further action.

 On November 26, an RPF team from Agartala and a GRP team from Agartala conducted a drive at the Agartala Railway Station based on solid information. They noticed a strange figure with two bags while driving. When they opened the bags, they discovered nine packets of ganja. The ganja weighed roughly 22 kilograms and was worth about Rs 2.20 lakh. Later, the seized person and the recovered ganja were turned over to the GRP of Agartala for further action.

On November 30, a joint RPF, New Tinsukia, and local police team conducted a drive at the New Tinsukia Railway Station in train No. 15901. (Lumding-Tinsukia Express). During the raid, the team recovered 24 soap cases of brown sugar from five people, three of whom were women. The brown sugar seized was worth roughly Rs 20 lakh and weighed approximately 312.67 grams. The apprehended individuals with the seized materials were taken into custody by Tinsukia local police for further action.

It should be noted that the NF Railway RPF is constantly on the lookout for activities related to smuggling and transportation of contraband items at various railway stations and trains in order to rid the country of drugs.
