results of the Cotton University Students' Union (CUSU) elections were
announced today, and Tridip Bhagawati won the race to become the next
President.
Himaparna Das was
appointed as the new Vice President. Rituraj Saikia was elected General
Secretary, while Nayana Bora was elected Assistant General Secretary.
Meanwhile, Ankur Jyoti
Sharma has been appointed as Editor of Cottonian magazine. Binoy Kalita was
elected Debate Secretary, and Rimlim Bhuyan was elected Cultural Secretary.
Furthermore, Hridaya Nanda
Kalita, the only independent candidate, was elected as Men's Common Room
Secretary, and Bipasha Das was elected as Women's Common Room Secretary
Dipjyoti Baishya was
appointed Cricket Secretary, and Bahniman Gohain was appointed Music Secretary.
Debagyan Baruah was
elected Tennis, Swimming, and Gymnasium Secretary, while Lisa Medhi was elected
Minor Game Section Secretary.
Finally, Bitupon Doley was
elected Secretary for Social Services, and Anna Timungpi was elected Athletics
Secretary.
It should be noted that
elections to fill the vacant positions in the students' union were held
yesterday, and the votes were counted today, after which the results were
announced.
