Digital Desk: A big online investment scam has come to light in Guwahati as a cyber fraudster has been arrested after a resident businessman was cheated of 1.69 crore of rupees in the name of a trading and investment-related scheme.


The accused, identified as Rabiul Chand (31), son of Bakher Ali Shaikh, of Katiya Dolong of North Jalukbari in Khanamukh under Jalukbari Police station, Kamrup (Metro), Assam. He is originally from Murshidabad, West Bengal.


According to police reports, Chand operated a complex online investment racket to give huge returns based on false dealings. After the businessman invested the amount, the fraudster disappeared, prompting the victim to file a complaint.


Following an investigation, the accused was arrested by the cybercrime unit from Jalukbari. The police have gone deeper to investigate this racket to find out the whole truth and who might have been involved.
