Digital Desk: In a major breakthrough, the police teams from Basistha and Jorabat arrested a nine-member gang involved in a series of robberies and truck hijackings across Assam. The gang had been terrorizing different regions of the state.
The joint police operation, which went through a secret tip-off at around 11 PM last night, managed to arrest the suspects. Police also seized a truck that was operating without a number plate, various stolen goods that were used in the robberies and three other number plates.
The detained are: Mofidul Ali, Gaziya Rahman, Samir Ali, Mominur Ali, Khairul Haque, Niranjan Rabha, Manjur Ali, Fazal Haque, and Mohar Ali. These include four in Goalpara, three in Bongaigaon, and two in Chaygaon.
Police sources reveal that this gang has repeatedly committed robberies across Assam and has previously served time in jail.
