 This incident sheds light on the escalating trend of cybercrimes in Assam, with Pradeep Ranjan Dey becoming the latest victim in this unsettling wave


Digital Desk: A theft of ₹7,80,000 was reported at Lumding SBI involving a savings account and fixed deposit. The individual initially tried to withdraw ₹5,000 but found insufficient funds despite expecting ₹80,000. Promptly reporting the issue to the bank, a complaint was filed, followed by lodging an FIR at Lumding police station.

 

This incident sheds light on the escalating trend of cybercrimes in Assam, with Pradeep Ranjan Dey becoming the latest victim in this unsettling wave. Residing in Lumding Officer's Colony, the retired railway employee was dismayed to find a substantial sum of ₹7,78,000 mysteriously vanished from both his savings and fixed deposit accounts held at Lumding State Bank.

 

Before this incident, there were allegations against the Lumding BSNL office for issuing his SIM card to someone who used a forged voter card in his name. The entire situation has been reported to the Lumding police for further investigation.

 

The community remains on high alert as they await further updates and measures to combat the rising tide of cybercrimes plaguing the region.
