Digital desk: Delhi Finance Minister Atishi presented the 2024–25 budget in the state assembly, where the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government took the initiative that every woman aged 18 and above will receive Rs. 1,000 per month, aimed at empowering women across the state, allocating a substantial sum of Rs. 2000 crore for its execution by announcing the implementation of the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna in Delhi.
Atishi, while highlighting the government's commitment to realizing the vision of 'Ram Rajya', emphasized the significance of empowering women in the societal framework. The budget, with an outlay of Rs. 76,000 crore reflects the government's focus on key sectors such as health and education.
Notably, a substantial portion of Rs. 8,685 crore has been marked for enhancing the healthcare infrastructure in the capital. In a significant move towards the education sector, an allocation of Rs. 16,396 crore has been proposed, reflecting the government's dedication to fostering a vigorous academic environment.
Delhi's economic growth trajectory was also highlighted, the finance minister citing a substantial increase in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) over the past decade. From Rs. 4.95 lakh crores in 2014 to Rs. 11.08 lakh crores presently, the GSDP has witnessed a remarkable surge, reflecting the state's economic landscape.
Similarly, per capita income has increased from Rs. 2.47 lakhs to Rs. 4.62 lakhs, surpassing the national average by two and a half times. The extension of the Delhi Assembly's budget Session until March 8 signifies the comprehensive deliberation undertaken to ensure the effective utilization of resources for the betterment of citizens.
