Mr. Malviya claimed that The Wire also published a false story alleging that the BJP used the superhuman app "Tek Fog" to intercept social media posts-old.

Digital Desk: After a complaint from the BJP's Amit Malviya, the Delhi Police raided the homes of two editors of the news site "The Wire" this evening.

The police searched the homes of The Wire's founding editors, Siddharth Varadarajan and MK Venu, and seized their phones and laptops. They have been charged with cheating and forgery in a case filed on the basis of a complaint filed by Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's IT Cell. According to the complaint, The Wire "forged documents to malign and tarnish" his reputation.

The Wire recently retracted a series of investigative reports alleging that Meta, the parent company of social media giants WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, had granted Mr. Malviya certain privileges that he could use to remove posts-old critical of the BJP.

Mr. Malviya claimed that The Wire also published a false story alleging that the BJP used the superhuman app "Tek Fog" to intercept social media posts-old.

Meta and other experts identified critical flaws in their reporting.

The stories were retracted "after conducting an internal review of the technical source material used, with the assistance of external experts," according to The Wire.

The Wire said in a statement that it was conducting a comprehensive editorial review of the internal editorial processes that resulted in the publication of these stories in order to identify and correct any and all flaws.

The Wire has filed a complaint against one of its former consultants, Devesh Kumar, who is accused of providing false information.

In a statement, The Wire stated that it had been given "fraudulent" information. Whether the person who brought all of the material to The Wire deceived us at the request of someone else or acted on his own is a question that will be resolved through the legal system in due course. The intent to discredit The Wire is clear, the statement said.
