The recent improvements in Delhi's AQI highlight ongoing efforts and the impact of weather patterns on air quality...

Digital Desk: In a positive turn for Delhiites, the capital's Air Quality Index (AQI) reached its lowest point of the year at 56 during the first week of July, categorizing it as "satisfactory," according to monitoring agencies. Throughout June, AQI levels remained consistently below 100 for seven days, marking a continued improvement due to favorable weather conditions in July.

The Central Pollution Control Board recorded the AQI at 56 on Sunday evening, reflecting the best air quality reading of the year so far. The AQI scale categorizes levels from zero to 50 as "good," 51 to 100 as "satisfactory," and levels beyond as progressively worse categories of air pollution.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports indicated a maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius in Delhi, slightly below seasonal averages, and a minimum of 26.2 degrees Celsius, also below average. The forecast for the upcoming days predicts generally cloudy skies with possibilities of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, or lightning until July 13. Relative humidity is expected to range from 57 percent to 93 percent during the day.

Meanwhile, the Chardham yatra in Uttarakhand's Garhwal region was temporarily halted on Sunday due to forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall on July 7 and 8. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey emphasized that the decision prioritizes the safety of pilgrims amidst potentially adverse weather conditions.

The recent improvements in Delhi's AQI highlight ongoing efforts and the impact of weather patterns on air quality, providing a respite for residents amidst varying climatic conditions and regulatory measures.
