Punjab: Indian sprinter Hima Das tested positive for covid-19 at the National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala, on Wednesday.

As per Hima Das’s media manager, she is in stable condition and under observation by a team of doctors.

“Health condition of Hima Das is stable and under medical observation.” said the media manager.

Meanwhile, Hima Das wrote on Facebook, “I would like to inform everyone that I have been tested positive for covid-19. I am stable and at the moment in isolation. I look forward to utilizing this time to recover and come back stronger than before. A gentle reminder for everyone to stay. A gentle reminder for everyone to stay safe and mask up everytime you’re out. #PositiveVibes #Covid19.”


The 21-year-old Arjuna awardee, after failing to qualify for Tokyo Olympics, 2020 due to hamstring injury, arrived at NIS on October 10 for a national camp that is slated to begin in Patiala at the end of this month.


According to the report, other athletes are yet to arrive at NIS; Hima checked in early to get a headstart.
