Digital Desk: A fraudulent Facebook account was created under the name "Upasana Gogoi FC", impersonating Upasana Bokoliyal Gogoi, the wife of late folk artist of Assam, Rajiv Sadiya.
Sonmoni Dutta alias Paban Dutta, the main mastermind behind the fake profile, has been arrested by the Tinsukia police. He was a resident of Uriamguri village, Naharkatia, Dibrugarh district.
The accused had reportedly opened the fake profile to raise financial help, leading to a collection of money from numerous people by pretending to suffer from various diseases.
Apart from the "Upasana Gogoi FC" account, Sonmoni also created another fake Facebook page titled "Zubeen Da Pagol Premik" (Zubeen Garg Mad Lover) and sent messages to Upasana Gogoi.
The amount of financial fraud committed by Sonmoni through these fraudulent pages is unknown and will be revealed soon during the ongoing investigation.
The Tinsukia Sadar police station is continuing an investigation regarding the matter.
