Digital Desk: A local holiday has been declared on October 25 in the Kamrup (Metro) district of Assam on the occasion of Diwali, according to a notification from the General Administration Department of the government of Assam.

"The Governor of Assam is pleased to declare a Local holiday on October 25, 2022 within the jurisdiction of Kamrup (Metro) district on account of Diwali festival," the notification reads.

It stated that on October 25, all state offices and educational institutions in the Kamrup (Metro) district will be closed.

In addition, all financial institutions in the district would be closed on that day, as per the notification.

"All State Govt. offices, educational institutions within Kamrup (Metro) district will remain closed on 25th October 2022 on account of this Local holiday," it read. 

"All financial institutions within Kamrup (Metro) district under Section 25 of N.I. Act, 1881 (XXIVof 1881) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No.20/25/Pub-I dated 8th June 1957 will also remain closed on account of this Local holiday," it added.
