  Digital Desk: Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested NCP politician and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik on Wednesday in connection with a money laundering case linked to Dawood Ibrahim and the underworld. Reportedly, since 8 a.m. today, the investigation agency has been interrogating Nawab Malik. After the arrest, the NCP leader was taken to the hospital for a normal medical examination. When Malik was taken for the medical checkup, the minister stated, "Ladenge aur jeetenge (I will fight and win)." As per sources, the Maharashtra minister was summoned to appear before the ED in a case filed against underworld don and terror financier Dawood Ibrahim, his brother Anees, Iqbal, associate Chota Shakeel, and others. Reportedly, last week the ED conducted a raid in different places of Mumbai for elements linked to the underworld and Dawood Ibrahim. The ED operations were in response to the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) recent filing of a case against Dawood Ibrahim. The agency is also looking into Nawab Malik's dealings with Dawood Ibrahim's assistant Sardar Shahvali Khan and Haseena Parkar's bodyguard Salim Patel. Haseena Parkar was Dawood Ibrahim's sister. Meanwhile, Devendra Fadnavis, the Opposition party leader, has claimed that Nawab Malik bought property worth crores from Sardar Shahvali Khan and Salim Patel for about Rs 30 lakhs. Officials from the ED are also investigating Malik's and his associates' other business operations. According to sources, the agency has major evidence against Malik and could take action against him. The ED claims to have uncovered a money trail linking Nawab Malik to underworld people, sources quoted. Moreover, it also claims to have information on Nawab Malik's benami investments in a real estate project.
