Notably, mendment bills were presented at the assembly for seven universities.

Digital Desk: Education minister Ranoj Pegu introduced six new university bills for six colleges in the state on the opening day of the Assam Legislative Assembly's autumn session on Monday.

University bills have reportedly been introduced for Sibsagar College (Autonomous), Gurucharan College, Bongaigaon College, North Lakhimpur College, Nowgong College, and Jagannath Borooah College.

Notably, mendment bills were presented at the assembly for seven universities. Gauhati University, Cotton University, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Madhabdev University, Assam Women's University, Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), and Bodoland University are the universities.



For the Assam Rajib Gandhi University of Cooperative Management, a repealing bill was also introduced.

After the implementation of this Act, all Assam Rajib Gandhi University of Cooperative Management properties will be placed to Sibsagar University.

Additionally, according to the terms of the Sibsagar University Act, 2023, all officers and personnel assigned to Assam Rajib Gandhi University of Cooperative Management's authorised positions will be transferred to Sibsagar University for the remainder of their employment terms.

In addition, for the remainder of his term, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajib Gandhi University would be named the Advisor to the Government of Assam's Higher Education Department. As long as he is the Vice-Chancellor of the Rajib Gandhi University of Cooperative Management, he will continue to receive the same pay and allowances.
