The shopkeepers told the media that a woman had warned them to remove their businesses, but when they refused, she poured water on the diyas and then broke them with sticks.

Digital Desk: A video of a woman destroying the shops of roadside diya sellers in Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow, is going viral on social media. She was irritated that local vendors had set up shop in front of her house during the holiday season. The incident occurred in Patrakarpuram, Gomtinagar.

It has now been revealed that the woman is the daughter of former IAS officer Shankar Lal and works as a doctor. The shopkeepers told the media that a woman had warned them to remove their businesses, but when they refused, she poured water on the diyas and then broke them with sticks.

Meanwhile, the shopkeepers and local vendors argued that they have been putting up the stalls every year and have also filed a police complaint.

According to one of them, "Madam arrived early in the morning and asked us to remove our shops, as well as pour water on our diyas and other decorative items. She went on a destructive rampage, destroying diya stalls. Everything was destroyed. I advised her to give them some space. We would load items onto a vehicle and relocate, but she would not listen."
