Speaking to the press, Hoque dismissed all the allegations against him and invited people to visit the university campus to examine its academic environment.

Digital Desk: The Gauhati High Court granted bail to Mahbubul Hoque, the Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), on Monday. Hoque was arrested on February 21 by Sribhumi Police for an alleged exam malpractice case. Case number 54/2025 was registered against him in Patharkandi, Sribhumi.

Speaking to the press, Hoque dismissed all the allegations against him and invited people to visit the university campus to examine its academic environment.

A court official said that Mahbubul Hoque got bail in one case on March 3, while another case on a similar allegation will be heard on March 4 at the High Court.

Hoque was apprehended by the Assam Police and Special Task Force (STF) team from his Ghoramara, Guwahati residence. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court on February 24. He also underwent a medical examination at the Civil Hospital Karimganj.
