Apart from this, he has also been booked for allegedly insulting the national flag.

Digital Desk: The Crime Branch has registered a case against filmmaker Avinash Das for sharing a photo of Union Home Minister Amit Shah with recently arrested IAS Pooja Singhal, who is on the headlines for her alleged involvement in corruption.

As per the police, Das, who directed the film 'Anarkali of Aarah', shared Amit Shah's picture with arrested Singhal, following which he was charged with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Saturday.

Apart from this, he has also been booked for allegedly insulting the national flag.

Police reports said that the photograph that Das shared on May 8 was clicked five years ago and that the filmmaker has brought it on social media to defame Amit Shah's image and mislead people.

"This was intentionally done to tarnish the image of Amit Shah and mislead people. This is an intention to defame the image of Amit Shah. Das also shared an objectionable picture of a woman wearing a tricolour on his Facebook. The image is an insult to our tricolour," police were quoted as saying by the media.

Reportedly, he is likely to be called to the crime branch for questioning.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested IAS officer Pooja Singhal a few days back over money laundering charges.
