Digital Desk: A fresh FIR has been reportedly filed against fugitive economic offender Vijay Mallya by Delhi Police for not appearing before a special court in connection with a cheque bounce case.

The proceeding took place in Rouse Avenue Court. The accused skipped the trial and refused to show up in court, the judge said. The Delhi Police were then told by the court to file an FIR against the offenders.

According to a senior police official, Mallya was the subject of a case filed under section 174 A of the Indian Penal Code as a result of a court order. The FIR was submitted to the New Delhi District's Connaught Place Police Station.

The Delhi Police has since filed an FIR against him, creating a fresh case.

IPC Section 174 A states that violators who refuse to comply with a public servant's direction could face a six-month jail sentence.
