Digital Desk: The Union Home Minister's prestigious "Special Operation Medal" for the year 2023 has been awarded to five courageous members of the Assam Police force. These officers have been recognized for their exceptional contributions in five Special Operations conducted since September 2021.

Established in 2018, the "Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal" is a distinguished honor designed to commend operations of national and regional significance, such as counter-terrorism, border security, arms control, narcotics smuggling prevention, and rescue missions. The 2023 recipients from Assam Police have showcased extraordinary dedication, skill, and bravery in the line of duty.

The award recipients are as follows:

1. Smt. Rumir Timungpi, Additional Superintendent of Police
2. Rupam Bordoloi, Deputy Superintendent of Police
3. Pulak Barman, Sub-Inspector/Programmer
4. Mithu Ch. Das, UB Constable
5. Dhiraj Das, UB Constable

These officers have displayed unwavering commitment and remarkable resilience, contributing significantly to the safety and security of Assam and the nation as a whole.

The "Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal" is an annual event, with the results announced on October 31st each year. While typically three Special Operations are considered for the award, this year, in exceptional circumstances, up to five Special Operations were recognized. This decision reflects the government's commitment to acknowledging and encouraging the extraordinary efforts of State/UT Police in safeguarding the nation and its citizens.

The 2023 awardees from the Assam Police have exemplified the spirit and dedication that these remarkable operations represent, and their contributions to national and regional security are commendable.
