Digital Desk: Assam has been dealing with devastating floods, which have had a big impact on the lives of its residents. The Flood Reporting and Information Management System's latest report shows that as of June 18, a total population of 33,412 has been affected by the floods.
Lakhimpur is the worst hit with 25,275 affected followed by Tinsukia (2,666) and Dibrugarh (3,857). 14 districts and sub-divisions, including Biswanath, Cachar, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hojai, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, and Udalguri, have suffered significant damage as a result of the floods.

Along with harming people, the floods also harmed the area's wildlife population. 20,405 animals in all have been impacted, including 502 chickens, 6,316 small animals, and 13,587 large animals. Tragically, the floodwaters have swept away 21 animals.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been actively involved in the rescue and relief activities. Five boats have been sent out to help with the evacuation attempts, and a four-person medical team has been sent out to help those who need it.
Infrastructure, particularly in Biswanath and Gohpur, has also been severely damaged by the floods. The erosion along the banks of the rivers Sessa and Solengi has been caused by damaged embankments. Resources from several departments, including the Panchayat & Rural Development Department and the Water Resource Department, have been deployed due to the severity of the situation.
