Digital Desk: Assam Rifles soldiers found 235 cases of international cigarettes at the Melbuk Refugee Camp in Zokhawthar, Mizroram's Champhai district, valued at Rs 3.525 crore.

The imported cigarettes were seized during an operation by a team made up of Assam Rifles and Customs Preventive Unit.
Information indicates that the team found the things after finding them dumped near the Melbuk Refugee Camp in Zokhawthar on the border between India and Myanmar.

The seized package was then given to the Customs Preventive Force for additional legal action.

For Mizoram, the continuous smuggling of illegal goods is a serious source of concern. Such operations against smuggling activities in Mizoram have been successfully carried out by the Assam Rifles, known as the "Sentinels of Northeast."

Recently, in the Tlangsam area of Champhai, Assam Rifles, working under the direction of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), discovered 70 bags of illicit areca nuts worth Rs 39.20 lakh.
