Digital Desk: The founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on Monday, October 10. For the past few days, the SP leader's condition had been critical.

Since August 22, he has been receiving care in the ICU at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram from a large group of medical professionals. On October 2, Yadav, 82, was moved to the intensive care unit.

His son and current party leader, Akhilesh Yadav, shared the news of his death on Twitter.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was born on November 22, 1939, is one of Uttar Pradesh's most well-known political figures. He has held the office of chief minister three times and has also held the position of minister of defence for the Union Government.

It is to be noted that he won seven Lok Sabha elections and ten MLA elections. Sadhna Gupta, the wife of the Samajwadi Party patriarch, died in July of this year after receiving treatment for a lung illness at a Gurugram private hospital.
