Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court has given its nod to Assam Government’s decision to scrap Assamese paper from APSC Mains exam. With this, the new norms laid down by the Assam government for APSC Combined Competitive Exams will come into effect from the next examination.

The Assam Cabinet, in a meeting recently, approved changes in the APSC Combined Competitive Examination (CCE).

The Assam cabinet decided to “remove language barrier in civil service exams conducted by the APSC.”

An official statement stated,” English and Assamese papers to be withdrawn subject to fulfillment of 3 conditions: candidate must be a resident of Assam, name registered in employment exchange of Assam, must be fluent in speaking Assamese or other recognized languages of Assam.”
