Digital Desk: The Gauhati High Court has rejected the bail plea of all the arrested accused in connection to the Bajali corruption case, reports emerged on Thursday.

According to sources, former Bajali SP Siddhartha Buragohain, former Bajali ASP Gayatri Sonowal, her husband Subhas Chander, DSP Puskal Gogoi, Homeguard Deepjyoti Kalita, and informant Iswar Chand Baruah have all had their bail requests denied.

It should be noted that on September 1, the CID apprehended seven people, including five Bajali Police officers and two drivers, on suspicion of bribery. Puskal Gogoi, Dy SP (HQ), Bajali, and SI were among the five detained police officers. Anup Jyoti Patiri, O/C, Patacharkuchi PS; SI (P) Debajit Giri, i/c Bhawanipur OP; ASI Sasanka Das of Patacharkuchi PS; ABC Injamamul Hassan, PSO of Smti Gayatri Sonowal, the then Addl SP (HQ), Bajali; and ASI Sasanka Das of Patacharkuchi PS. Deepjoy Roy and Nabir Ahmed were the drivers participating in the illegal activity.

Six of the suspects were remanded in custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court a few days later. Home Guard drivers Deepjoy Kalita and Nabir Ahmed, middlemen Sahidul Islam and Kishore Kumar Baruah, former Bajali ASP Gayatri Sonowal, and her husband Bobby Singh are among the suspects who have been placed in judicial custody, according to reports.
