6,000 people who follow Pebbles on Instagram from all around the world lament Pebble's passing.

Digital Desk: The world’s oldest dog, pebbles pass at 22, on Monday. Pebbles was titled the world’s oldest dog by Guinness World Records in May after owners Bobby and Julie Gregory realized their pet was older than the previous official oldest dog, a 21-year-old Chihuahua named Toby Keith.

Pebbles was a Toy Fox Terrier who took its last breath in its Taylors, South Carolina home in the presence of its family members.

The family was awaiting the dog’s 23rd birthday in 5 months.

Pebbles was born on March 28, 2000, and the Gregorys adopted him the following year. Since 2012, Pebbles' veterinarian has put her on a high-protein cat diet, although she is occasionally granted a special treat.

She was a once-in-a-lifetime companion and having her as a pet and a member of the family was a privilege for us, stated Julie Gregory.

6,000 people who follow Pebbles on Instagram from all around the world lament Pebble's passing.

There were several condolence notes. There are no words, simply sending you love, I'm very sorry, one user remarked.

Sweet pebbles will be recalled forever. She will always be a legend, another person said. "I'm very sorry for your loss, oh no. I understand how precious stones must have been to you. Take solace in the knowledge that she was aware of your love for her, and I know you were "a different Instagram user stated.
