Gandhinagar: In a significant breakthrough, Gujarat Police successfully located and reunited 42 missing children with their families across the state between July 1 and July 28. The recoveries were made possible through the strategic deployment of advanced CCTV analytics, cyber tools, and digital surveillance technologies, officials confirmed.
The intensive 28-day operation, dubbed 'Operation Surakshit Cyber Space', was launched under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Minister, aiming to enhance public safety through technological intervention. Police departments across various districts employed sophisticated digital methods to track leads and pinpoint the whereabouts of the missing minors.
A notable case highlighted by authorities involved a Class 7 student from Khambhat in Anand district. The girl went missing on her way to Khambhat Nagrik Sahakari Bank Primary School from her home in Khodiyar Nagar Society. When she failed to arrive at school, her class teacher ed her parents, who subsequently reported the incident to Khambhat City Police.
Investigators promptly analyzed footage from the Vishwas Phase-2 CCTV network, alongside other digital surveillance tools. This swift action led to the girl being traced within a few hours, found with her bicycle, and safely reunited with her family. This incident exemplifies the effectiveness of the integrated technological approach in resolving such sensitive cases rapidly.
The successful 'Operation Surakshit Cyber Space' underscores the growing reliance on modern technology in policing, demonstrating its potential to significantly aid in the swift resolution of missing persons cases and enhance child safety across Gujarat.
