Kataria was appointed as the new Governor of Assam on February 12, succeeding Professor Jagdish Mukhi.

Digital Desk: Gulab Chand Kataria took oath as the 31st governor of Assam on Wednesday.

Justice Sandeep Mehta, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, administered the oath of office at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, was also present.

Kataria was appointed as the new Governor of Assam on February 12, succeeding Professor Jagdish Mukhi.

On his arrival at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, Kataria was greeted with a warm and traditional welcome. His wife, Anita Kataria, was also welcomed by Raj Bhavan's officers and staff.

Gulab Chand Kataria is a former Rajasthan Home Minister who was born in Udaipur. From 2014 to 2018, he was Rajasthan's home minister.

He is a senior BJP leader who also serves on the party's central working committee.
