Digital Desk: According to authorities, a 27-year-old woman techie was drugged and raped by a man in his car parked in the basement of a Gurugram mall.

The perpetrator, according to the police, called the victim, an engineering graduate, on the pretence of a job interview and raped her after offering her sedative-laced water.

In a complaint filed at the Sector 51 women's police station, the rape survivor stated that she was looking for work online and contacted a man named Tushar Sharma, who offered to find her work.

He called her last Saturday under the guise of an interview in Sahara Mall. She arrived at the mall at about 1 p.m. with her paperwork and met Sharma, who drove them to the mall's basement.

The defendant then offered her water. According to the survivor, she lost consciousness after swallowing it. She described her incident as Sharma pushing her inside his car and raped her. Before abandoning her in the mall parking lot and running, he threatened to murder her if she notified anybody about the incident.

The police took the woman to the hospital for a medical evaluation after receiving the report. Tushar Sharma was charged under sections 328 (causing bodily harm with poison), 376 (rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police have requested CCTV video from the mall's management to identify the suspect.
