Guwahati: 10 people were arrested by the Kamrup Metro Excise Department in connection to the production and illegal sale of liquor following multiple raids.
According to reports, 2500 kg of fermented wash, 250 litres of illegally distilled water, and a cash amount of Rs 6,000 were seized during the raid in six areas of the city.
The areas are as follows:
Sonaighuli, and Sawkuchi.
Dispur Kachari Basti, Birubari, and Rupnagar.
Bhootnath, Fatasil Ambari, and Athgaon.
Narengi and Uzanbazar
Meanwhile, the accused were sent to judicial custody under Kamrup (M) district.
It has to be noted that the illegal sale of liquor is done in many parts of Guwahati with police busting rackets and arresting the accused every now and then.
