Digital Desk: In preparation for essential repair work on the old Saraighat Bridge, the NF Railway has announced that the bridge will be closed to all from 10:00 PM on August 10, 2024, to 6:00 AM on August 11, 2024.

To ensure smooth traffic management during this period, the Assam Police Headquarters has issued directives to regulate the movement of commercial vehicles, including trucks, and other heavy and medium motor vehicles (HMV/MMV) approaching Guwahati City and Kamrup Rural districts.

As part of these measures, the Superintendents of Police (SP) in multiple districts have been instructed to halt all goods-carrying vehicles and trucks as follows:

1. Goalpara district: From 7:00 PM on August 10, 2024.

2. Nalbari, Baksa, Barpeta, Bajali, and Darrang districts: From 7:00 PM on August 10, 2024.

3. Chirang, Kokrajhar, and Dhubri districts: From 7:00 PM on August 10, 2024.

4. Sonitpur, Nagaon, and Morigaon districts: From 8:00 PM on August 10, 2024.

Additionally, vehicles traveling from and towards Upper Assam that do not require entry into Guwahati are advised to utilize the Kaliabhomora and Pancharatna Bridges as alternative routes.

These traffic restrictions will be in place until 6:00 AM on August 11, 2024, or until the completion of the repair work, whichever occurs earlier.
