Digital Desk: The Excise Department has revealed that Guwahati residents consumed alcoholic drinks worth Rs 6.8 crore in only two days of the celebrations, contributing to the city's enthusiastic Diwali celebrations.

There were sales of alcohol worth Rs 3 crore and 71 lakh on Sunday and Rs 3 crore and 11 lakh on Monday.

The astounding figures reveal how the city celebrates the holiday with great fervour as seen by the spike in alcohol sales.

Comparing the data to the same period in 2022, there has been a notable increase  when the city consumed alcohol worth Rs 5.97 crore, with a daily sale of Rs 2.99 crore.
