Digital Desk: The Maa Kali Hotel in Paltan Bazar, where a customer spotted a dead lizard in his rice thali, was sealed by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Thursday after being open for two days.

According to sources, today's search at the hotel in the Paltan Bazar area was conducted by the GMC authorities, Food Safety officials, and police under the supervision of a magistrate.

It is said that the search was to ensure that they were maintaining the required levels of sanitation while cooking and other tasks, they examined the hotel.

Furthermore, after determining that the hotel had impaired public health and violated hygiene norms.

The incident eventually came to light after a visitor from Silchar had dinner at the hotel and ordered a rice thali and a fish curry. He noticed a dead lizard amidst the cooked rice while eating the meal.

Following this, a brawl broke out between the customer and the hotel personnel and owner. The customer subsequently filed a complaint with the Paltan Bazar Police Station.

This comes as the second hotel after Misti Mukh near Flyover Ulubari, Guwahati was also sealed due to violating Hygiene norms.
