The heavy rains have emphasized the need for improved flood management and urban infrastructure in Guwahati...

Digital Desk: Guwahati was severely impacted by heavy rainfall on Monday, leading to widespread disruption across the city.

The severe downpour caused key roads to flood, resulting in significant traffic jams and rendering major routes nearly impassable. Commuters faced severe delays as waterlogged streets and submerged intersections restricted vehicular movement.

In addition to the traffic chaos, many homes in low-lying areas were inundated. Residents woke up to find their properties waterlogged, with some areas experiencing significant damage. The rapid accumulation of water overwhelmed local drainage systems, exacerbating the flooding situation.

Moreover, the Kamrup Metropolitan administration, which primarily comprises the Guwahati city, ordered the closure of all educational institutions on Tuesday in the wake of inclement weather.

The heavy rains have emphasized the need for improved flood management and urban infrastructure in Guwahati to better handle such extreme weather events.

As the city begins recovery efforts, residents are urged to stay updated on weather conditions and follow safety advisories.
