Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the office of Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner will be shifted to Rupnagar from Kachari in Guwahati. CM Sarma also visited and inspected the site of the new office at Rupnagar on Wednesday.

Himanta visited the site for inspection and said, “A 5-storey building will be constructed at Rupnagar as the DC office will now be shifted here. 10 new DC offices will be constructed in the state in 10 bighas of land. The construction will be completed in 3 years.”

In an interview, the Chief Minister was asked about the cost of the entire project of 10 new offices, he said that it cannot be said right now. Himanta said that the construction of the DC office building will be done with proper infrastructure and adequate parking space.

The old DC office at the Kachari will be demolished and will be upgraded as the beautification project of Brahmaputra.

Office of the Commissioner of Police will be shifted to Rupnagar, said officials.
