Guwahati: Ferry Services between Guwahati-North has resumed today after months of closure.

The services have been resumed following Covid-19 protocols for the public but the vaccination is not mandatory, said, Director of Inland Water Transport (IWT) Gautam Das.

The timings and the fares continue to remain the same as earlier until any further notice.

The ferry services between Guwahati-North Guwahati were closed from May 2021 when inter-district travel was banned by the Assam Government due to the second wave of Covid-19.

Other public transportations have resumed from September 2, but the ban on ferry services continued due to the rising water levels of the Brahmaputra.

Assam Inland Water Transport was established in 1958, and the Directorate was shifted to Guwahati in October 1963.
