The deceased were identified as Raja Roy of Dhubri and Mridul Deka of Rukminigaon, Guwahati. Both of them were on their way to a shop to buy rice distributed under ration cards when the vehicle rammed them.

Digital Desk: In a tragic incident, a speeding dumper truck killed two people in Lalmati, Guwahati on April 9 evening. The victims died on the spot, police said.

The deceased were identified as Raja Roy of Dhubri and Mridul Deka of Rukminigaon, Guwahati. Both of them were on their way to a shop to buy rice distributed under ration cards when the vehicle rammed them.

The bodies were taken to the GMCH for postmortem.

Raja Roy is survived by his ailing mother, his wife, and two daughters.

Mridul Deka, originally from Dhubri but living in Rukmanigaon, left behind his wife and a daughter.

The deceased were reportedly neighbours.  

Following the road accident, people gathered on the highway, triggering widespread outrage and leading to traffic disruption.
