Digital Desk: According to the state excise department, Guwahati sold Rs 11.8 crore worth of liquor in two days (Uruka-Magh Bihu) this year.
In Guwahati, liquor worth Rs 7.2 crore was sold in Uruka on January 14. Liquor was sold for Rs 4.6 crore in Guwahati on January 15.
It's interesting to note that during the two days of Bihu, the state sold nearly Rs 20 crore worth of alcohol.
In the past, Guwahati saw the sale of alcohol for Rs 7.80 crore around the New Year.
During the two days of the Bihu celebrations in Guwahati, only 15 cases of drink and drive were reported, even though alcohol sales totaled Rs 12 crore.
