CM Sarma stated on social media site X that someone had attempted to breach his Facebook account this evening.

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that there was an effort this evening by hackers to hack his Facebook page.

CM Sarma stated on social media site X that someone had attempted to breach his Facebook account this evening. He added that early investigation suggests that hackers may be based in Pakistan.

"Unknown hackers made an attempt to hack my Facebook account this evening. Preliminary information suggests the hacker might be operating from Pakistan. Investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators," said the Assam CM.

It's noteworthy that this occurred the day after the chief minister of Assam used social media to draw attention to a phony video that featured his address in a twisted manner.

On January 8, Chief Minister Sarma used social media to reveal a fraudulent attempt to use a phony film to misrepresent his address. Ahead of the impending elections, the Chief Minister voiced concerns about criminal groups circulating false information.

"Observe for yourself how special interests slant speeches as elections get near in order to unlawfully disseminate false information and sow division in the community. The long arms of the law will catch up with these elements," in his January 8 online post, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Assam's Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, reacted quickly to the fake video, which was purportedly intended to damage the Chief Minister's reputation. DGP Singh promised, "Noted Sir. CID Assam would register a criminal case and investigate people behind," in response to Himanta Biswa Sarma's post.
