Digital Desk: Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Tuesday that he had written to the opposition's leaders in the Lok and Rajya sabhas to let them know that the government was willing to talk about the Manipur matter for as long as they needed to. Since the first day of the Monsoon session, both Houses of Parliament have seen disruptions as the opposition parties have insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi make a statement regarding the violence in Manipur before any discussions can start.

Following a video of a May 4 incident that surfaced lately showing two women being naked and paraded by a mob, the opposition attempted to put pressure on the government regarding the violence in Manipur. The minister stated that the government has nothing to hide and is prepared to discuss the Manipur problem in response to a brief discussion of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha. Amid opposition members yelling chants, he said, "People who are shouting slogans are neither interested in cooperation nor cooperatives, neither are Dalits nor in women welfare."

"I want to stress that I have written letters to the leaders of the opposition in both Houses letting them know that the government is ready to have discussions for as long as they want. The government is not afraid of anything. Those who want to debate the Manipur issue can debate.  None of this is a secret," said Shah. Amid the commotion, the House later voted in favour of the bill by a vote. Following then, the House was adjourned till Wednesday.
