Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya till April 17, with isolated heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on April 17, IMD said.
Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that heavy rain and thundershowers would continue in a few places across Assam and Meghalaya, with Haflong in Assam receiving 190 mm and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya receiving 120 mm rainfall.
It also stated that rain and thundershowers would continue in scattered locations over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, coastal Karnataka, and Odisha.
During the next five days, fairly widespread or widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms or lightning is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura due to strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to northeastern states at lower tropospheric levels.

Similarly, light to moderate, fairly widespread or scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms or lightning is very likely over Kerala-Mahe, Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-Karaikal, and Karnataka over the next five days due to the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the Lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast the Arabian Sea up to middle tropospheric levels under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast Arabian
Moreover, isolated or scattered rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning is expected over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next five days.
Scattered heavy rainfall is very likely across Tamil Nadu’s Ghats until April 17; over Kerala-Mahe on April 16 and 17; and over south interior Karnataka till April 18; isolated very heavy rainfall is possible over South interior Karnataka on April 17.
Apart from 190 mm in Haflong and 120 mm at Cherrapunji, Silchar in Assam had 60 mm rainfall for the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Friday; Wayanad (70 mm) and Palakkad (50 mm) in Kerala; Yercaud (120 mm), Upper Bhavani (70 mm), Tiruppur and Omalur (60 mm each) in Tamil Nadu; south interior Karnataka’s Bhagamandala (80 mm), Hesaraghatta, Magadi and Turuvekere (50 mm each); north interior Karnataka’s Haveri received 60 mm rainfall.
