The mountaineer is a programmer based in California, US. He passed his matriculation examination from Golapara Sainik School.

Digital Desk: Hedayat Ali, who hails from Assam's Hajo, on Thursday became the seventh Assamese to scale Everest. He ascended to the top of Mount Everest at around 7:30 am. He was a part of a world team with 11 other mountaineers.

The mountaineer is a programmer based in California, US. He passed his matriculation examination from Golapara Sainik School.

Remarkably, he also climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe; Mount Acconogua in 2019; and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, in 2018.

Tarun Saikia was the first Assamese to reach the summit of Everest. At 37, Saikia reached its highest peak on May 18, 2013. The expedition was sponsored by the North Eastern Council and thus the Manipur Government.

Assam's government has also announced a cash award of Rs 20 lakhs for his achievement. The Explorers Club of Guwahati congratulated Ali on his successful expedition.
