As per the report, each of the 15 players in the Indian squad, including those who did not play a match such as Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal, will receive Rs 5 crore each.
Digital Desk: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had announced a reward of Rs 125 crore for Team India following their victory in the T20 World Cup, marking the end of a 17-year wait for the Men in Blue. However, the Indian Cricket Board had not initially provided clarity on how this substantial sum would be distributed among the players and coaching staff. Now, according to a report by The Indian Express, details have emerged on the allocation of the prize money.
As per the report, each of the 15 players in the Indian squad, including those who did not play a match such as Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal, will receive Rs 5 crore each. Additionally, four reserve players—Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed—will be awarded Rs 1 crore each.
Furthermore, Head coach Rahul Dravid and key coaching staff members such as batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey will each receive Rs 2.5 crore. The five members of the senior selection committee, including chairman Ajit Agarkar, are slated to receive Rs 1 crore each.
Additionally, other support staff members of the Indian team will also be rewarded handsomely. The report specifies that three physiotherapists, three throwdown specialists, two masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach will each be granted Rs 2 crore. BCCI staff members who traveled with the team, such as media officers and the logistics manager, will also receive recognition.
Quoting a BCCI source, The Indian Express mentioned, "Players and support staff have been informed about the amount of prize money they will be receiving from the BCCI and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice."
Earlier in the week, Jay Shah commented on the prize money, stating, "As far as Rs 125 crore is concerned, it will cover the players, support staff, coaches and selectors as well. Everyone."
Additionally, apart from the BCCI, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde had also announced a cash reward of Rs 11 crore for the World Cup-winning squad.
