Her failure to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 was one of the biggest setbacks of her career.

Digital Desk: Hima Das, a sprinter from Assam, has qualified for the 200 m event at the upcoming Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Hima Das has qualified for the 4x100 m relay race at the 2022 Commonwealth Games along with champion sprinter Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, MV Jilna, NS Simi, and S Dhanalakshmi.

Das first made headlines in July 2018 when she won the title of Women's 400m World U-20 Champion after winning the competition at the World U-20 Championships in Finland, three months after making her Commonwealth Games debut. With a time of 50.79 seconds, she set the current Indian record for the 400 metres that she clocked at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

It may be mentioned that her failure to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 was one of the biggest setbacks of her career. During the pandemic, she even had a near-death experience. However, she made a powerful recovery despite the unfortunate situations. She returned to the track in a spectacular way this year, taking home the gold medal in the women's 100-meter race at the 61st National Interstate Athletics Championships.
