With a formal order from the Governor of Assam, Sharma will be succeeded by IAS Megha Nidhi Dahal, who has been appointed as the Commissioner of GMC.
Digital Desk: Megh Nidhi Dahal, an IAS officer from Sikkim who previously served as a staff member for the chief minister and a state public information officer (SPIO) in the office of the chief secretary to the government of Assam, has been appointed as the district's deputy commissioner (DC) in the Barak Valley.
In a tweet, the president of Bharatiya Gorkha Yuva Parisangh (BhaGoYuP) thanked Dahal and sent his best wishes. On behalf of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Dr. Raju Subba, president of BhaGoYuP Assam, spoke with the young IAS officer and offered him congratulations.
Debashish Sharma, the Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), was transferred and assigned as the Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon as part of a Friday evening reshuffle of many key administrative positions in the state.
The changes were notified in a formal order from the Governor of Assam. Sharma will be succeeded by IAS Megha Nidhi Dahal, the DC of Sivasagar District, who has been appointed as the Commissioner of GMC.
According to the order, "Shri Debasish Sharma, IAS(SCS-2011), Commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Joint Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, Mumbai (Additional), is transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon and Joint Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan, Mumbai (Additional") in the interest of public service."
"In the interest of public service, Shri Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia, IAS(SCS-2011), Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon is transferred and assigned as Secretary to the Government of Assam, Housing and Urban Affairs Department," it continued.
"Shri Megha Nidhi Dahal, IAS(RR-2015) Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar is transferred and assigned as Commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation," the statement continued.

Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia, the current Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon, has been transferred and appointed Secretary of the Housing and Urban Affairs Department.
Meanwhile, IAS Sadnek Singh, Joint Secretary of the Transformation and Development Department, was transferred and assigned as the District Collector of Udalguri, with the additional charge of Secretary of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
P. Uday Praveen, who is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri and the Secretary of the Bodoland Territorial Region, has been transferred and assigned as the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat.
In addition, IAS Aditya Vikram Yadav, Joint Secretary to the General Administration Department and Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary of the Assam government, was transferred and placed as the Sivasagar DC.
Finally, Mrigesh Narayan Barua, who is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, has been promoted to Joint Secretary of the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
